Seating systems on aircraft include a variety of designs ranging from economy passenger seats to premium cabin seats, specialty pilot/crew seating and ejection seats used in military applications. Seating is designed not only for comfort, durability, and reliability but also to structurally withstand FAA crash test requirements while meeting requirements for weight and aesthetic standards. Today’s seating is often equipped with power supplies and in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems depending on the application. Aircraft seating is ultimately customized for every aircraft based on size, pitch, cosmetic finish and desired features.
The primary challenges currently facing the aircraft seating market are centered around on-time delivery, cost reduction, and a cosmetic finish. Primus Aerospace is highly accomplished in each of these areas and brings over 30 years of experience in machining as well as integrating and assembling complete seats used for both commercial and military aircraft. Depending upon our customer, we may manufacture individual components used in new production or spare parts through the complete assembly of seating systems, including soft goods, power supplies and IFE. Primus can produce or source any component used within this product category, including but not limited to:
- Armrests
- Legs
- Spreaders
- Backrests
- Seatpans
- Access Doors
- Tray Tables
- Seat Frames
- Structural Supports
- IFE Hardware
- Pivots
- Electrical Mechanical Assemblies
- Seat Covers, Cushions, and Belts
- Ejection Seating Components
Partnership
We strategically partner with our customers to assist in their design, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness of new seat designs in order to bring their products to market affordably and quickly. Please refer to our case study on the home page to learn more about our customer relationship which helped transform the economy passenger seating concept by using a state-of-the-art seat design featuring the middle seat positioned in a staggered layout resulting in a wider, more comfortable seat compared to traditional middle seats. We produce multiple design concepts offered by our customers including the (S1) Staggered Short Range, (S2) Staggered Long Range, (S3) Side Slip Seat which accelerates the boarding process by widening the aisle, and the (PRM) Passenger Restricted Mobility Seat.
